Sharing Supplies with the Orang Asli Community through the Rotary Club of Malaysia
As part of our commitment to reducing waste and supporting those in need, we make it a practice to share any excess supplies with other NGOs and charitable organizations whenever possible.
On this occasion, we collaborated with Frederick from the Rotary Club of Malaysia, whose initiative focuses on delivering essential supplies to the Orang Asli community. Through this partnership, we were able to contribute surplus items to support their efforts and ensure that these resources reached those who would benefit from them most.
We are grateful for the opportunity to work together in making a positive impact and helping communities in need.
This is a report from Federick.
The Orang Asli community in this area consists mainly of the Semai people, although the Temuan tribe is generally better known by the public. There are approximately 40 children living in the village, and today about 100 adults gathered to participate in the community program.
As part of our contribution, we distributed diapers to all newborn babies in the village. However, we found that there were also many children around one year old who require M-size and L-size diapers, which we were unable to provide due to limited supplies. These larger-sized diapers remain a much-needed item for the community.
In addition, we distributed various food items and treats, including chocolates, biscuits, cooking oil, and oatmeal. The program also provided an opportunity for us to spend time with the villagers, interact with the families, and better understand their daily needs and challenges.
The event concluded with a fellowship lunch shared with the community. It was a meaningful occasion that strengthened the bond between volunteers and the villagers while bringing some assistance and joy to the families, especially the children.
